There are a number of significant changes coming for families and staff in the Amityville Union Free School District in the 2026-2027 school year. Teacher Working Days & Staff Calendar 2026–27

AUFSD teachers and staff have extra working days beginning and ending the student academic year. These are some of the activities, like orientation days, professional development sessions, and administrative tasks, at the end of the year. The total number of working days for teachers for 2026-27 is approximately 190 days (185 student days + 5 Superintendent Conference Days).

Important for Staff: Teachers should be available on all working days unless they have leave approved by the School Office. The AUFSD staff portal will be used for the request for a substitute teacher at least 48 hours prior to the substitute being requested.

Parent-Teacher Meeting 2026–2027

Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) are one of the most important events in the AUFSD calendar. These are planned conferences with direct access to the classroom teacher to discuss the child’s academic and social progress, attendance, and concerns directly with the parent. AUFSD’s PTMs are held twice a year, in the fall and the spring, during the day and in the evening, to please working families.

How to Schedule Your PTM Appointment

• Log in to the AUFSD Parent Portal at amityvilleschools.org/parent-portal
• Click on ‘Schedule Conferences’ in Academic.
• Pick your preferred time slot (slots are 15 minutes apart)
• A confirmation e-mail will be sent to you with the teacher’s link to the virtual meeting (if the virtual option is selected)
• Meetings in person in classrooms (check with your child’s school for the room)
• Please let the school’s main office know if you cannot attend a scheduled date, so that you can reschedule the appointment this week.

What to Discuss at PTM

To make the most of your 15-minute conference, come prepared with questions. Here are the key topics parents typically discuss during PTMs at AUFSD:

• Reading Comprehension, Math fluency, Writing (Elementary)
• The success rate of homework set and in-class activities.
• Failure to come to school on time and/or regularly.Issues with attendance and punctuality.

• The next standardised test preparation.
• If additional tutoring, after-school classes or support is required, it will be provided.

Parent-Teacher Conferences & Report Card Dates
