North Bellmore School Calendar : School for the students will start on Thursday, August 14, 2026. The first three days will be Professional Development Days and Registration Enrollment on August 11, 12, and 13, and the final instructional day will be July 31. District-wide professional development and graduation will take place on Friday, May 22, 2027, and the final day of school will be Thursday, May 21, 2027. Winter break begins at the end of the day Friday, December 19, 2026, and returns to school Monday, January 5, 2027.

North Bellmore School Syllabus 2026 – 2027

An Emphasis on Early Literacy is made:

  • Students in K-3 are taught Fundamentals, which is a foundational reading program.
  • Heggerty is expressly taught as phonemic awareness.
  • In lower classes (primary grade), decodable texts (e.g, Geodes) are employed to strengthen the decoding ability.
  • Reading Comprehension and Vocabulary Development: In higher grades (Grades 3-6), the emphasis is on greater reading comprehension, vocabulary, syntax, and semantics, and more difficult texts.

Differentiated and Targeted Support:

  1. Students who require assistance are given small groups or individual assistance.
  2. The district employs evidence-based intervention programsforf struggling readers.

Math Aligned to Standards:

  • Adheres to the Common Core Math Standards in NY State.
  • Consults EngageNY modules by use of pacing guides.
